Aly & AJ Dropped An ~Explicit~ Version Of ‘Potential Breakup Song’ After It Blew Up On TikTok

Aly & AJ are back and they’re addicted to swearing.

The sisters have shed their Disney-era vocabulary and re-released a new, explicit version of “Potential Breakup Song”, their 2007 banger which somehow blew up on TikTok this year.

In their new, edgier lyrics, Aly & AJ go all-out with “fucks” and “shits” and whathaveyou.

Given the way this chaotic dumpster fire of a year is ending on a decidedly sketchy note, this song could not have come a minute sooner.

Have a listen below if you’re ready to lose your innocence.

Like most people, I only know the first 30 or so seconds of the song.

But even in that short burst, you can clearly hear one of the biggest lyrical overhauls of the year: “Except for the fact it was my birthday, my fucking birthday!”

The new version also has slightly different (read: better) backing music compared to the original version.

But clearly the original is still pretty catchy, given that it’s been featured in over two million TikToks.

Their online fame even prompted the queens Aly & AJ themselves to recreate their gorgeously tacky album cover to the track.

Perhaps Lil Nas X put it best when he left a comment on the aforementioned TikTok on the same day the new, explicit version of the song was released:

Let’s see if the rude version of “Potential Breakup Song” appears on the duo’s upcoming album next year.
