ALDI’s Latest Special Buys Uber-Bargain Is A Chic Scandi-Style Sofa For $249

aldi scandi-style sofa

Praise be to ALDI, that silent, fluorescent-lit temple to the bargain, in which we find the off-brand chocolate, onesie-shaped sleeping bags and aeropresses that soothe our thrifty souls like nothing else. Their latest offering: this surprisingly chic Scandinavian-style sofa, coming to their Special Buys section next week for a measly $249.

The two-seat sofa comes in a standard grey polyester, or a way more exciting (and realistic-looking) tan faux leather, and features a fun double-cushion design that demands some cozy Netflix cuddles. It’s also a “compact design” that’s “perfect for small spaces”, which as far as I’m concerned means one thing and one thing only: bedroom sofa. The height of luxury!!!

(Plus it comes with a one-year warranty – always reassuring when you’re paying a pittance for a piece of high-traffic furniture.)

The tan beauty is part of ALDI’s “Mid Century Living” range, which also features a series of hotel lobby-style rugs, a collection of wood and black metal furniture (including a pair of nesting side tables for just $29.99), and some fun storage baskets that your houseplants would look great in.

Also on the special buys list for next week: a bunch of Indian cooking stuff, including a roti maker and a samosa maker, neither of which I knew existing and both of which I must have immediately.

ALDI’s special buys – housed in the hallowed middle aisle, that jumble of dreams and wonders – are legendary for their deep discounts and occasional deep weirdness. Inflatable bubble balls, anyone?

All the above (and some hypoallergenic stuff, if you’re sick of springtime doing a number on your sinuses) will be in-store on Wednesday 2nd October. Get in early, and if you’re going to be hustling for a couch, bring a friend – you’ll need them to beat off the other shoppers while you seize your prize, and to help make a speedy getaway (i.e. to carry the bloody thing, it’s heavy).

Happy shopping, bargain-lovers!
