It speaks to the overwhelming interest in Barack Obama that two biopics have been produced before he’s even left office. The first was Southside With You, which to be fair wasn’t really a biopic but more a treacly depiction of Barack and Michelle Obama‘s first date.
Now we have Barry, the Netflix original depicting Obama’s college years in New York City. Netflix teased the show last month, and now we’ve got the full trailer – featuring Aussie actor Devon Terrell as Obama. It looks like a Netflix drama series – there have been enough of them for us to begin determining a general tone here.
If there’s one thing we can be certain of in the rapidly encroaching Dark Age of the Trump presidency, it is this: we are about to see approximately 1,000 Obama biopics needling through every possible moment of his life.
