Jennifer Lawrence has announced that she’ll be stepping away from the dizzying lights of showbiz for a year so she can concentrate on something that’s near and dear to her heart: helping people through activism.
The Hunger Games star has been a busy bee these last few years, packing one blockbuster after enough into her already time-stretched schedule and somehow managing to appear at a multitude of marches and protests.
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, the 27-year-old revealed that she’s going to be hanging up her acting chops for a year and working with Represent.Us, an organisation that looks to get the youth involved in politics.
“It doesn’t have anything to do with partisan [politics],” Jennifer said of her work with the organisation. “It’s just anti-corruption and stuff trying to pass state by state laws that can help prevent corruption, fix our democracy.”
Let’s hope that J-Law is the hero we need to kick our butts into action and stop the absurd amount of insanely cooked things that seem to be happening on a daily basis.
In the meantime, she’s out and about plugging her new film Red Sparrow which hits a cinema near you on the 1st of March.
