This TikTok About Growing Up In Aus Just Restored All The Serotonin I Lost Over The Weekend

It’s time for a sweet TBT, mates (I know it’s Monday but fuck it, let’s call it TBM). A viral TikTok video has hit me straight in the fucken’ feels as it showcases a bunch of iconique shit that all Aussie millennials and Gen Zers will remember from their childhood.

First up, there’s the epic Scholastic Bookclub where you’d flip through and select a book that you’d beg your parents to buy for you, then subsequently become bored of it after two days. That’s not always the case, though. I remember once begging my mum for a Saddle Club Diary but she said no bc it’s ~for girls~ but I proceeded to beg until she gave up and bought it for me and I’ve cherished it forever. One of the biggest wins of my lifetime.

There’s also a bunch of beloved shows that you’ll remember watching before / after school, complete with a bowl of 2 minute noodles and a milkshake (or a bowl of Rice Bubbles, if it’s the morning). There’s Giggle & Hoot, the Adventures of Bottletop Bill & Corky and Ben & Holly’s Magical Kingdom.

Good lord those shows were cooked, but they made for some fine entertainment.

Speaking of school, remember writing yes / no / maybe on our rubbers and flipping them in the air to get an answer like it’s some kind of goddamn Ouija Board? Hey, don’t judge us, there was no TikTok back then.

Plus there’s the legendary school assembly which was boring as hell but at least it gave us a break from class.

Have a watch below and prepare to feel all of the feels:

Feel like more nostalgia? Of course you do. You’ve watched the short video and you wanna do whatever you can to avoid the harsh realities of adult life and continue reminiscing on your childhood. Simpler times, weren’t they?

Have a read of our investigation of the most cooked kids telly shows ever. It’ll hit you right in the nostalgia, but it’ll also freak you the fuck out and potentially even bring back latent childhood nightmares.
