Stan’s New Murder Series ‘The Gloaming’ Was Inspired By Tassie’s Haunted History

There’s more excellent Aussie drama coming our way via upcoming Stan Original Series, The Gloaming.

In a huge power move, the local streaming giant have teamed up with Disney’s ABC Studios International to produce the series along with Screen Tasmania and Screen Australia.

Filming of the eight-part premium drama is underway in Tasmania with beloved showrunner Vicki Madden (The Kettering Incident) at the helm.

The series tells the story of Detective Molly McGee (Emma Booth) and Alex O’Connell (Ewen Leslie) as they team up to solve the brutal murder of a local woman.

Their investigation uncovers sinister crimes and occult practices, bringing their own dark pasts into the light.

Booth is best known for her role in Glitch, Once Upon A Time and Hounds of Love while Leslie can be recognised from The Cry, Safe Harbour and The Daughter.

“To have the opportunity once again to create a series based in Tasmania is a great privilege,” Madden said of the project. “Its gothic landscape and haunted past have inspired me since I was a child. I’m thrilled to have Emma Booth and Ewen Leslie bring my beloved Molly and Alex to life, and Stan and ABC Studios International on board to share The Gloaming with audiences around the world.”

The Gloaming is a co-production between Stan and Disney’s ABC Studios International, developed by Madden’s Sweet Potato Films and John Molloy’s 2 Jons and produced by Madden.
