Netflix Reveals Easter Egg Honouring The Late Marvel Comics Genius Stan Lee

Netflix has revealed a nifty little feature honouring Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee, giving users access to films and shows inspired by his work with the use of one keyword: ‘Excelsior!’

The company today revealed that typing ‘Excelsior!’ into the search bar leads users to a sub-category called Stan Lee’s Universe, which features work based on many of his iconic characters.

By typing in the keyword, Australian Netflix users can access Guardians Of The Galaxy: Vol.2, the Andrew Garfield-led The Amazing Spider-Man 2, along with Marvel series Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and The Defenders.

Young guns can also peep a few animated series, too.

“Excelsior” is Latin for “higher” or “ever upward,” and Lee used it as a sign-off on his newsletters and addresses to his (many, many) fans.

It eventually became synonymous with the writer, editor, and publisher, who died this week at the age of 95.

The word made its way online, too. Lee used the suitably heroic term on Twitter, which is potentially the most wholesome thing to ever happen on the social media platform.

Netflix users hoping to access the Stan Lee’s Universe sub-category better make use of the keyword relatively quick.

Disney, which owns Marvel Studios, has signalled its upcoming streaming service Disney+ will make full use of Marvel content.

Until then, you may as well honour the bloke himself by sinking in to some super Spidey goodness.
