This Terrifyingly Realistic Deepfake Puts Tobey Maguire In ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’

The world has been debating who is the better Spider-Man ever since Tom Holland first stepped into his spidey-suit. But now thanks to terrifying deepfake technology, you can now see Tobey Maguire in Far From Home, or at least his head on Tom Holland’s body.

Deepfakes are a terrifying form of technology that basically gives anyone the freedom to make it look like you said or did something, even if you didn’t. Honestly, it’s probably going to become a huge mess and we won’t be able to tell whether Donald Trump actually said that dumb thing, or if it’s just a deepfake.

But on a slightly less sinister note, YouTuber Aldo Jones has given us a glimpse into what Spiderman: Far From Home might’ve looked like if Tobey Maguire still donned the spidey-suit, according to indy100.

Granted, we’re already used to seeing Maguire in a Spider-Man costume, and he and Tom Holland have similar builds and voices, so it’s not a huge stretch. But that doesn’t make it any less frightening that this technology is available.

Tobey Maguire is 44-years-old now, so he’s probably getting a little old to be running around saving the world. It’s interesting to imagine what a Maguire Far From Home would’ve been like, but I’m not quite ready to say goodbye to Tom Holland Spider-Man just yet.

The video has gained more than 700,000 views in three days, and only about 50,000 are from me.

The impressive deepfake comes just after Sony announced that Spider-Man would be leaving the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While we were all crying and mourning the loss of Tom Holland Spider-Man from the MCU, Aldo Jones apparently decided to straight-up replace him in the trailer.
