Sophie Monk Tears Shreds Off Ex-Bardot Bandmate For Stealing From Her

Putting the Game of Thrones kettle down for a moment to pour a different kind tea: Sophie Monk has blasted her former Bardot bandmate, Chantelle Barry for stealing from her back in the day.

Monk recently appeared on The Kyle and Jackie O Show where she dissed her ex-friend to co-host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson, who BTW was arguably responsible for making the former Bachelorette famous as she was a judge on Popstars, the talent series that put the quintessential Aussie girlband together.

“You chose Chantelle Barry first, didn’t you?” Sophie asked Jackie, who replied: “Oh, yes I did. Sorry! She was very talented though, wasn’t she?”

Monk sassily responded, “She’s very good at stealing things.”

Barry on Popstars

In 2000, Chantelle was booted out of the band and replaced with Tiffani Wood after being accused of theft.

In 2017, she confirmed to Woman’s Day that she stole cash from Sophie before being offered ‘hush money’ and a solo record deal to quit the band.

“Sophie left her $100 weekly allowance in an envelope in my bedroom and I intended to return it on the weekend – we had plans to go to a gig together,” Chantelle explained.

“In a moment of stupidity, being a teenager and thinking that a pair of shoes was more important than the friendship I had with Sophie, I decided to keep her money for myself.”

The powers that be at Popstar soon discovered what had happened and Chantelle confessed to stealing. She was then offered $1,000 by management to leave the band.

Chantelle recalled that Sophie eventually forgave her, but she still “felt terrible”.

Although the scandal made headlines at the time, Chantelle’s record deal apparently prevented her from telling her side of the story.

“I was young, naive and saw it as a way out,” she said, before adding that she never saw the other Bardot members again.

Sophie might’ve been $100 poorer but who’s laughing now, Chants?
