After the outrageous success of Wicked (bestselling book and hit musical about the pre-Dorothy days of the Wicked Witch of The West), some genius in Hollywood decided that Wizard Of Oz spin-offs are a winning concept and everyone wants a piece.
A film about the Wizard’s back story called Oz The Great And Powerful is in the works and so far has Robert Downey Jr. attached to play the title role. He can do just the right amount of insane to capture the essence of the original:
Apparently Sam Mendes and Hairspray director Adam Shankman are vying for the director’s chair.
I would totally see this.
