Robert Downey Jr Is Getting Paid Ridiculous Money For The Next ‘Avengers’

In a saturated superhero market, Marvel and Disney clearly have a lot of confidence in the ongoing success of the Avengers series, and more specifically, in the bankability of their star, Robert Downey Jr.
The next two films, Avengers: Infinity War parts one and two, are set for release in 2018 and 2019. Between them, they have a budget of $US 1 billion, and a rumoured $US 200 million of that will go directly to RDJ.
According to a recent report in Bleeding Cool, the films have budgeted a total of $400 million to the screenwriter, director, producers and cast, of which Downey Jr will get half.
This $1 billion budget, while is apparently stretches over two films, is four times greater than the $US 250 million budget for The Avengers: Age Of Ultron, which now seems fairly paltry by comparison.
RDJ has been in the money for some time – last year, he was officially declared Hollywood’s highest-paid actor, raking in $US 75 million and handily beating the likes of Dwayne Johnson and Leonardo DiCaprio
Downey Jr has been making noises about stepping back from the role of Tony Stark for a while, saying late last year that he has no plans to do an Iron Man 4. $200 mil is a hell of a way to end his run, though.
