Poor, Sweet Matty J Says He Still “Runs To The Bathroom & Starts Crying”

Hey Australia, has your heart recovered yet from being torn to almighty shreds by ‘The Bachelorette‘ finale?

Y/N? Either way, it’s about to get absolutely bloody pulverised.

As we all know, Georgia Love didn’t choose the nation’s imaginary boyfriend Matty Johnson in last week’s finale, opting instead to spend her life, love, and sponsorship dollars with Lee Elliott.

And hey, there’s nothing wrong with Lee. He looks… nice. He did that pun with a donkey. But producers tricked us all into thinking Matty J was going to win, and when he didn’t the nation fucking raged.

Matty’s Instagram is now public (rejoice!) and he’s thanked his family for getting him through “one of the most unique experiences of my life”, wishing Georgia & Lee “all the happiness with their future together, especially during this difficult time. Both of you deserve nothing less.”

He’s also given the most heartbreaking of interviews to POPSUGAR Australia, describing how he’s still in love with Georgia.

It turns out that while we’ve been watching Matty fall in love with Georgia each week, he’s been doing his absolute bloody hardest to get over her, a task not made easy by the fact that he was contractually obligated to keep quiet about the show’s result.

“It really is such a huge relief [to talk about it], because up until now it’s all just been bottled up inside — to the point where my phone would go off and people would be like, ‘Is that Georgia messaging you?’” he said. “And you don’t want to be like, ‘It’s not! She didn’t pick me! It’s Lee, Goddammit!’ And so then you have to be like, ‘Ooh, maybe it is, I don’t know!’ And then run to the bathroom and start crying.”

Georgia & Lee. </3
If it sounds like he’s still in love with Georgia, that’s because he’s still in love with Georgia.

“Uh . . . As hard as it is to say this, my feelings towards Georgia haven’t changed at all really. I still miss her. I still love her. It’s hard.”

Oh, you hear that? It’s the sound of ONE MILLION HEARTS BREAKING AND ONE MILLION LOINS BURNING. (We’d also have accepted ‘one million applications for The Bachelor sending’ as an answer.)

Matty says he can’t help but be a bit jealous of Lee for ending up with Georgia’s Love (I hate myself for typing that), but he still messaged his former rival & current friend after the finale to say congrats.

And now that the show’s FINALLY over, he can at last start to move on.

“I guess the hardest part is that I haven’t been able to recover from it,” he said, admitting that he was still heartbroken. “You know when you break up with someone and you go through all those old photos of your holiday together and all these amazing moments — I think that’s what makes people hold onto a relationship and not let go. The fact that it’s been playing out on TV every week has meant that I haven’t been able to let go. Now that it’s finally out in the open and I can talk about it will be the chance that I can finally move on.”

If it’s any kind of consolation, Matty all-but-confirmed on ‘The Project‘ last week that he was a cert for ‘The Bachelor‘ next year. Get your applications in, mates.

Times are tough so I’m coming out of retirement.. Mer-Mann!!
