WATCH: Matty J All But Confirms He’s Gunning To Be The Next ‘Bachelor’

Following last night’s bamboozling Bachelorette finale, the internet was absolutely ropeable. Still, amid the wailing, teeth-gnashing masses asking why Georgia Love chose Lee Elliott over Matty Johnson, some punters looked at the bigger picture: ol’ mate Matty J is basically a shoe-in to helm an upcoming season of The Bachelor.

Welp, in tonight’s debrief on The Project, he didn’t exactly downplay that thought process. By that, we mean he treated the entire section as an interview for the plum gig left vacant by one Richie Strahan.

Cue the namedropping.

“I think the show’s got a huge amount of credibility. I mean, you look at people like Tim Robards, Sam Frost and Sam Woods,” Johnson said, “and I think you look at that and you think there’s such a genuine chance to meet someone incredible and create a long-lasting relationship.”

As if that wasn’t e-bloody-nough to convince you the man still has his eyes on the prize – the prize being true love – the man responded to Meshel Laurie’s direct line of questioning by saying “right now it kind of feels like I’ve finished running a marathon, and the moment I’ve crossed the finish line, people are asking me if I want to run another one.”

Bookies had him to win last night, but jeez, they’ll probs be sporting odds for his turn as the next Bachelor before you know it. Watch:
