‘MAFS’ Insider Says Contestants Were “Prisoners” In Their Luxury North Syd Suites

Contestants seem to run rampant in the spicy eps of Married At First Sight (MAFS) but according to an insider, when the cameras stop rolling they’re kept in cages (or there abouts).

The MAFS whistle-blower told the Daily Mail that because of the outrageous antics of last year’s contestants, “engaging in secret parties and hook-ups”, this year producers have enforced strict rules on the cast that they are forced to abide by between takes.

“When the talent weren’t required on set they were basically on lockdown and had a long list of restrictions they must abide by,” the insider revealed.

During filming, the contestants were moved into apartments in Meriton Suites North Sydney (sounds hellish, doesn’t it?) where socialising with their co-stars was reportedly forbidden and they were required to sign in and out of their apartments.

When they wanted to use the communal gym, they had to do so alone during their brief allotted time-slot.

If they needed to hit the shops, they were required to take their ‘minder’ with them and avoid interacting with other contestants.

Mobile phone use was carefully monitored (for good reason, IMO) and devices were confiscated during filming hours like it was year 10 P.E.

Only when the contestants were back in their rooms were they allowed to access their phones again.

“It was explained that they couldn’t call anybody to discuss the show, or message other cast members to chat or follow them on social media,” said the source.

“The reason for this was because ‘producers didn’t want a single thing happening if a camera crew wasn’t there to capture it.”

The insider continued: “A lot of the cast would joke that prisoners had more rights and freedoms than they did.

“But as far as the MAFS producers were concerned, the cast were there to make a show, not have a holiday.”

The source also spilled the tea RE payment for appearing on the show and apparently all the cast were rewarded was weekly expenses to cover groceries, as well as a daily per diem of approximately $150 for days they were required for filming.

I mean, if they’re looking for sympathy for being trapped in a lush North Sydney Suite then they’ve come to the wrong place.
