Despite painfully illustrating the latent homophobia and general inequality of a seemingly progressive State, California’s contentious Prop 8 (which states that “only a marriage between a man and a woman is recognized or valid in California”) has spawned at least one moment of hilarity.
In a newly launched PSA, Justin Long and Mike White argue why gay marriage could be used as an unusual form of torture against those you hate. More specifically, the best way to curb the in-you-face and over-sexed lifestyle of people you don’t really understand is to let them taste the domestic bliss horror of marriage and embrace the relationship perks that heterosexuals have long enjoyed – mind numbing routine, waning libidos and covert masturbation. Also, inappropriate money talk with your Father-in-Law Tom Arnold? I’ve had that one before. If you disagree with the homosexual lifestyle, they ask, why not overturn prop8 and make them get married like the rest of us? Inequality isn’t funny but mock public service announcements that illustrate the futility of hate totally are.
