None other than mid-00s sweethearts Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have been spotted spending time together in Los Angeles after the eternally youthful pop star’s split from former fiancé Alex Rodriguez.
According to Page Six, Affleck was sighted several times heading to J.Lo’s house in California in her white Escalade (how these people keep track of which celebrity owns which car I will never know).
While the pair have not actually been seen physically occupying the same space, one of Page Six’s “sources” told the rag: “Security picks him up at a nearby location and drops him off after spending a few hours at her house.” This has reportedly happened three whole times, which might as well be a public engagement announcement as far as I’m concerned.
Obviously this purported reunion has ignited a nostalgia-driven frenzy on Twitter, because who doesn’t love a holistic return to the mid-aughts? It’s not just middle parts and low-rise jeans anymore! We’ve got the whole Bennifer package!!!
In case you weren’t tuned in to pop culture in the heady days of the early new millennium, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez were one of the first genuine celebrity couple juggernauts. The pair were very famously engaged in 2002. Then they put off their wedding in 2003, and finally broke everyone’s hearts by splitting up properly in January 2004.
So it’s frankly no surprise that everyone’s getting all het up about mum and dad maybe getting back together!

Despite the fervent hopes of an entire generation whose tastes are forever influenced by Jenny from the Block, other sources told Page Six that Bennifer is now strictly platonic.
“They are friends,” said one. “They’ve never not been.” We will see about that, my friend. We will see. Meanwhile, pass me my bedazzled newsboy hat: I’ve got a circa-2002 dance routine to relearn.
