Word on the street is there’s about to be another shakeup on the judging panel of Aussie singing comp The Voice with American judge Joe Jonas set to be replaced by our very own Guy Sebastian.
“[Guy] ticks every box,” an industry insider told Woman’s Day. “He’s popular, a Sony music artist and most importantly, affordable! Fans slammed [Nine’s] decision to cast three international coaches last year, so they were keen to fill the seat locally, and no one measures up to Guy.”
The source adds that Sebastian has been after the role for quite some time and he’s finally “been given the green light.”
The 37-year-old has been something of a pioneer in the realm of local singing comps having been the first winner of Australian Idol back in 2003 and a judge on five seasons of X Factor.
If the report is legit, he will join beloved coaches Boy George, Delta Goodrem and Kelly Rowland.
“Jules is concerned about Guy working so closely with an old flame,” a source close to the pair spills.
“While she is excited for him and wants him to excel in his career, she’s finding it hard to reconcile the fact that her hubby will be working alongside Delta, someone he’s admitted to dating in the past.”
Apparently Delta “has been gushing about how happy she is to be working with Guy.”
“Everyone knows The Voice is a huge commitment to take on,” says the insider. “Jules can’t help but worry.”
Back in 2015, the singer revealed that he had been on a “couple of dates” with the ‘Born To Try’ singer.
“A long time ago… I dated my [hall] pass, believe it or not,” he said on The Kyle & Jackie O Show. “Hers [Jules’] was Heath Ledger, mine was Delta Goodrem. And I dated Delta for a few months – no one knew about it.”
Delta tea aside, news of Joe vacating his chair for Guy is yet to be announced so we’ll wait and see how this all plays out, won’t we?
