Aussie Music Legend G Flip Has Come Out As Non-Binary & We’re So Flipping Happy For Them

G Flip

Our lord and saviour G Flip just announced that they are non-binary and will now go by they/them pronouns. Huge!

G Flip came out on Instagram in a cute AF photo dump repping their favourite footy team…the pies. It’s good to see that the Aussie singer has always been a fan of the humble baseball cap too.

“I’m non-binary mother fuckers! Big props to those who have been educating and advocating for the NB community the last few years,” G Flip wrote on Instagram.

“Looking into what it means to be non-binary had me realise that that’s who I’ve been my entire life. Gonna use they/them pronouns from now on too.

“I’m still the exact same person, non-binary is just the best way to explain who I am and how I’ve always felt, like a gender smoothie…. also go pies.”

G Flip’s news has been well received by the Aussie music community, with many musos and other community members congratulating G Flip on Insta.

“Go G,” Triple J presenter Bridget Hustwaite wrote.

“Love yew G,” musician Jack River said.

Other musicians like Gretta Ray, Alex the Astronaut and Filous also shared messages of support.

In recent years, gender fluidity has become a lot of normalised, giving people the confidence to come out. For those in the public eye, it’s especially difficult because of the public scrutiny involved.

Last month, Demi Lovato came out as non-binary and talked about their journey toward that decision in a series of tweets.

“Not only has my life been a journey for myself, I was also living for those on the other side of the cameras,” Lovato wrote on Twitter.

“This has come after a lot of healing & self-reflective work. I’m still learning & coming into myself, & I don’t claim to be an expert or a spokesperson. Sharing this with you now opens another level of vulnerability for me.”

It’s amazing when celebs come out publicly, so hopefully it make the journey that little bit easier for someone else.
