If any marriage was written in the stars, it has got to be the union of Frances Bean Cobain and Riley Hawk. You see, Frances is the daughter of Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain and singer Courtney Love while Riley is the offspring of skateboarding pro Tony Hawk. It’s giving grunge, it’s giving ’90s, it’s giving destiny.
News of their official waltz down the aisle earlier this month was leaked by gossip gods TMZ who somehow managed to get their dirty mitts on their marriage licence.
According to TMZ, the pair secured their marriage licence in September this year but actually tied the knot on October 7.
While neither Frances Bean nor Riley have posted any pics from their big day, we do know one very fun fact about their wedding – it was officiated by former R.E.M frontman Michael Stipe.
Isn’t this just the most ’90s-centric wedding you’ve ever heard of?
While it fits the vibe, there was a more personal reason why Michael performed the ceremony. He’s Frances Bean’s godfather and fun fact, her godmother is Drew Barrymore.
We first learned that Riley and Frances Bean were an item in February 2022 when she posted a carousel on Instagram after a posting hiatus.
The carousel included pics of Riley, and images of the pair together.
Riley is a skateboarder just like his papa while Frances Bean is a model and visual artist. I think they make a pretty cute pair, no?
According to Twitter, the sweet peas had been secretly dating for a hot minute before they made it IG official with the post above. One of the snaps showed Frances and Riley arm in arm on a boat next to his parents, Tony and his wife Catherine Goodman.
