Colin Farrell’s Handsome Face May Appear in ‘True Detective’ Season 2

On Thursday of last week, HBO said that a casting announcement for True Detective season two – aka the internet’s favourite guessing game – was imminent. A certain key bit of information about Colin Farrell‘s possible involvement was supposed to be kept under wraps, but media organisations began breaking the embargo, and now Entertainment Weekly are reporting on it too.
The network has reportedly approached several major stars about the show, including Josh Brolin, Joaquin Phoenix, Russell Crowe, Jessica Chastain and Christian Bale, but Farrell’s involvement would totally make sense. Though he’s well-known as a film actor, he hasn’t had a hit in some time, and a quality show with a built-in audience would be just the shot in the arm that his career needs.

The show’s creators say that season two will have three main leads, and will be set in contemporary California, in lesser-known places outside of Los Angeles. “We’re going to try to capture a certain psycho-sphere ambiance of the place, much like we did in season one,” said writer Nic Pizzolatto.

Assuming Farrell is indeed playing a detective in the show, we can only hope he’s playing an adorably rumpled Irish cop in America along the lines of Chris O’Dowd in Bridesmaids. The reality will probably be way grittier than that, though.
