Chris Pine Was Once In A Band With His Maths And English Teachers

Chris Pine

Before I get into this yarn, Chris Pine wore all brown – brown shirt, brown pants, brown boots – in his recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live and does not look like a sack of potatoes. How ridiculous. Moving on. Pine, huge music head, hopped on the show to talk about Wonder Woman 1984 and his new series I am the Night.

Before the interview took its natural course, Pine and Kimmel remembered the time they ran into each other at a Chris Cornell tribute concert, sparking a conversation about the actor’s great love for music.

Pine revealed that though he was not part of a proper band in high school, he still got to rock a tune or two in front of his classmates.

“I was in a band with my math teacher and English teacher,” Pine told Kimmel. “My math teacher was a sax player and my English teacher was a guitar player.”

Together, they performed songs like ‘Brown Sugar’ by The Rolling Stones – an appropriate song for school. Then, at a town hall meeting in front of a bunch of students, Pine sang ‘Let’s Get It On’ by Marvin Gaye. At the time, Pine didn’t exactly know what the song meant but he was just “excited my voice was that high that I could hit those notes… or think I could hit those notes.”

Bless him.

Sadly, the band was short-lived.

Oh, and because this interview was not random enough, Pine started rapping ‘Ice, Ice Baby’ by Vanilla Ice.

As for Wonder Woman 1984 – well, Pine couldn’t reveal much about it but he did share his love for a quality fanny pack. Context: Fallon shared a piccie of Pine and Wonder Woman actor Gal Galdot on set, the former rocking the pack.

“You know why I like the fanny pack?” he said. “Incredible storage space, your pants are not weighed down by unnecessary baggage, and this is sort of why I’m investigating a new thing which is the suspender.”

Yep, because why would you wear an uncomfortable belt and struggle at the loo when you can wear suspenders and “the pants can be loose, problem solved.”

Again, this was such a random interview.

I am the Night premieres January 29 on Stan
