In a new development in the National Anthem-Singing scandal of the decade, Beyonce has finally responded to the lip synching accusations that cast a shadow over her flawless rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner” performed at President Obama’s inauguration ceremony, as well as casting a shadow over her flawlessness in general.
When addressing such scandals, some celebrities might send out a tweet or have their publicist make a statement, but when you’re Beyonce you call your own goddamn press conference and say “hell yeah I was lip synching y’all” and then you SHUT. IT. DOWN. with a live performance of the same song.
Haters take a seat.
So the press conference was kind of the most awkward thing ever, but the singing part was amazing – maybe not quite as amazing as how she finishes wailing and then casually says, “Thank you, guys. Any questions?”
Beyonce has promised that her performance at the Super Bowl halftime show this Sunday (US time) will absolutely be live. “I am well rehearsed . . . and this is what I was born for,” she told journalists. Then she posted this on her fascinating personal blog:
