Well, hasn’t the action on Bachelor In Paradise kicked up a notch? Last night we saw some serious ~moments~, including Blake introducing us to a new contestant named Lenora, Michael‘s head almost exploding at the rose ceremony and Jake‘s brutal blindsiding of Flo.
If you need a refresher, check out Pedestrian.TV‘s extremely good recap here, but basically in a nutshell: Jake behaved like a complete dickhead, pashing on with two girls (which, okay, it’s a horny reality TV show so that in itself is fine) and then lying to both of them about the situation, leading both gals to believe they might be safe at the rose ceremony and then betraying Flo by giving his rose to Megan.
It was a damn cold move, and like seriously did he apply for the wrong show because that’s some Survivor-level fuckery right there.
Anyway, Jake has been doing the media rounds and defending his good name *coughs loudly* in the wake of the scandalous episode. Not only does he insist he’s NOT ACTUALLY A FUCKBOY, he also says he’s indeed quite saddened by claims that he is.
You may recall that Tara said way back in Episode 1 that “everyone on the Gold Coast has a Jake Ellis story”, implying that he’s broken his fair share of hearts up that way. While speaking to Now To Love, Jake was asked how he felt being the “target of some pretty awful slut-shaming” that came his way.
It’s something I’m not used to. I understand everyone is entitled to their opinion and interpretation of things but nobody’s perfect and I just hope that before people judge me, they know I’m there for a reason – and that’s to find the right person for me, not the right person that everyone thinks I should be with.
He claims that he and Tara are “really good friends, I speak to her two-three times a week”, and says “she’s apologised ridiculous amounts because of that [comment] and we’ve had a good laugh about that.”
As for his lying to Flo about kissing Megan, Jake told the outlet: “The last thing I ever wanted to do was hurt Florence. My heart was on the line just as much as everyone else and I tried to deal with it as best I could.”
Ah yes, by lying to her face.
