In what may turn out to be the most significant snack-based news of the year, it seems that Vegemite Shapes are coming our way, after the website of a regional Coles goofed up and posted a listing for the as-yet-unannounced new product.
VEGEMITE! AND SHAPES! TOGETHER AT LAST! I don’t know about you, folks, but I’m mentally preparing myself to panic-buy a hundred or so boxes of these bad boys and shove them all in my mouth at once in an orgy of yeasty, cheesy delight.
The listing itself, for “Shapes Vegemite & Cheese Crackers“, showed up on the online store of the Coles in Maroochydore, Queensland at some point this week, and still appears to be there as of this morning, although the product is not yet for sale.
While Arnott‘s have not made an official announcement as yet, they have been heavily teasing a new Shapes flavour all week, with ads on Instagram and Facebook promising “a new Aussie legend coming soon”, in a distinctly Vegemite-themed colour scheme.
The ads also feature someone who might be Kenny from the movie Kenny, or might also just be a guy – I dunno, I guess I’m suffering from Kenny-specific face-blindness, a condition that affects as many as one in five Australians.
Anyway, the point is that Vegemite Shapes might be coming our way soon, and we demand answers. Your move, Arnott’s.
