Kochie Is Frothing Hard On Your New Festival Faves Confidence Man

It is almost time once again for the much-loved music conference and festival BIGSOUND to hit Brisbane, with things happening from the 5th-8th of September. As with all music festivals, it is absolutely integral to get recommendations from people you trust as to which acts you should bypass, which you should see sober, and which you should see at all costs.

And well, someone quite unexpected has thrown their hat into the ring for BIGSOUND recs, with Sunrise‘s resident Total Dad Kochie suggesting a few bands that he thinks you should absolutely be listening to, and should check out at the festival if you can. Apparently Kochie has his ear to the ground when it comes to young people’s music, and has a special affection for local Aussie acts in particular.

One of his absolute faves, and a band that has recently been generating some massive amounts of buzz, is Brisbane’s own Confidence Man. They are blowing up after gaining a big following and shitloads of new fans after their epic acclaimed set at Splendour in the Grass this year. Kochie is obviously one of these fans, saying that the band has a great sound, and that “Their show at Splendour was a standout.”

Check them out and see if you agree with him.

Kochie also is loving Sydney-based BLESSED, who he says he has followed for ages, and reckons “he has landed in a terrific place with this sound“.

He also says you should definitely check out the talents of Nick Hill, Washington, and Maribelle. These are actually all pretty tops suggestions, so maybe Kochie knows more than you might give him credit for. Or maybe it’s all an elaborate plot to seem cool and hip, it’s hard to say.

If you happen to be in Brissy for the festival and don’t completely trust Kochie’s opinions, check out the rest of the lineup for yourself here.
