Do Not Tweet At Smash Mouth About The ‘Shrek’ Songs, They Do Not Like It

Now, we know that no one is really worried about Smash Mouth in 2016, which is fair. But maybe we should be. Because they really don’t seem okay.
Yesterday, they re-started their extremely unofficial Twitter campaign to dispel the myth that they’re only famous because they were on the Shrek soundtrack.

They are very, very, very dedicated to this campaign, sometimes even replying to tweets they aren’t tagged in. Which means they are probably searching for the terms ‘Smashmouth’ and ‘Shrek’ together, to find all tweets talking about the movie’s OST.
This habit of defensively tweeting back at people who link their fame to Shrek has been going on for over a whole damn year now. It is not good.
See for yourself:

They also get super, super devo when anyone calls them a ‘one hit wonder’:

And they HATE it when people forget that The Monkees cover wasn’t the only song of theirs in Shrek:
In Gawker’s article about this bizarre frontal lobe failure, author Ashley Feinberg referenced the lead singer’s similarity in appearance to Guy Fieri, which also seems to have saddened the Mouth of Smash:

DATES AND TIMES MUST BE CORRECT! CHRONOLOGY! SMASH MOUTH ABSOLUTELY BLOODY LOVE LINEAR TIMELINES.
While they may be clouded with misinformation, at least the 90s band still have their dignity. Actually… uhhh – never mind.
