Russell Crowe took time out of his filming commitments for Darren Aronofsky’s Noah yesterday to perform a string of impromptu pub gigs at three venues in Reykjavik. Joined by his friend, actor and musician, Alan Doyle and the legendary Patti Smith, the trio performed a duet of the latter’s soaring classic ‘Because The Night‘ to a predictably enraptured crowd at the Kex Hostel.
Crowe, who is also set to dust off his pipes later this year in Tom Hooper’s adaptation of Les Miserables as Javert, played a gracious second fiddle to the iconic Smith, who at sixty-five is enjoying something of a popular resurgence and is only getting better with age.
