Romance Was Born X LEGO = Romance Play Armour

They’ve collaborated with artists (Del Kathryn Barton), other designers (Jenny Kee), the entire Marvel comic book archive, and now they can add the building blocks of all my childhood dreams to their CMYK CV.

Romance Was Born designers Luke Sales and Anna Plunkett have teamed up with LEGO to build a brick mosaic inspired by castles and medieval knights (and maybe incest and sideboob?) to create a coat of armour artwork celebrating the 50th anniversary of LEGO in Australia.

As part of the Brickworks project, LEGO has enlisted ten ‘creeeatives’ including paper engineer/genius (and fellow RWB collaborator) Benja Harney, child artist Max “I’m six years old” Treffkorn, patissier Adriano Zumbo and the Dinosaur Designs duo to create an image inspired by the art/act of ‘play’, creating a series of public artworks that’ll be on display in bus shelters on and around Macquarie St, Sydney, as of Tuesday May 29th, before taking up residence at the Powerhouse Museum and then touring to other regional locations.

The average Australian owns 70 LEGO bricks, 7 million sets of the stuff were sold last year in Australia alone and there are 915 million ways to combine six 2×4 bricks. This is just one of them:
