Get In The Fkn Car, A Messina Drive Thru Is Popping Up In Sydney’s North-West This Weekend

Huge news for anyone in Sydney who lives in the Hills and has been pining for a little lockdown treat to get through the monotony of being at home all the time: Messina has launched a pop-up drive thru shop up in the city’s north-west for the weekend.

Kicking off today at the Bella Vista Hotel express warehouse, the rare drive-thru gelato shop will be slinging out kits for its O.G. Cookie Pie (with all its milk and dark choc nuggets, and paired with a 1L tub of vanilla gelato) and from Friday, tubs of the decadent Have A Gay Old Messinetta collab creation will be up for sale, too.

The team will also be selling 500ml tubs of selected gelato flavours, including Messina faves Strawberries & Cream, Cone-ception, Gianduia, Cookies & Cream, and Salted Caramel with White Choc.

Look I might be wrong here, but I’d hazard a guess that this absolutely beats driving over to Parramatta to tuck into some Messina treats, if that’s even in your 10km radius.

Also being able to get a whole tub of gelato and a massive bake-at-home cookie pie without even having to leave the car? Now that’s the height of lockdown luxury, baby.

The beloved mint green Messina gelato van will be popping into the Bella Vista Hotel’s warehouse from midday to 9pm on Thursday to Saturday this week, and then 12-4pm on Sunday, for all your end-of-weekend/Sunday Scaries endorphin needs.

I thought I’d seen it all when I first encountered a drive thru grog shop, but one where you can get a slab and a tub of deeply indulgent dessert at the same time? Honestly, it’s a game changer. Forget the ceremonial Macca’s run, this weekend’s all about the Messina drive thru run.
