Not A Drill: ‘Star Wars’ Theme Parks Are On Their Way

HOO BOY.

Gone are the days where the piss-poor excuse for a ride devoted to Star Wars at Disney World, Star Tours is the only option to live out fandom fantasies, friends. LONG. GONE.

For Disney has announced what they rightly should have done the second the ink dried on their landmark deal with Lucasfilm in October 2012: A FREAKIN’ STAR WARS THEME PARK INSIDE DISNEY WORLD.

Per a report in the Hollywood Reporter today, Disney Chairman Bob Iger announced that two Star Wars lands will be constructed within the Orlando and Anaheim Disney Worlds in the US.

“Everything we create will be part of our storytelling,” Iger said of the parks overnight, “Nothing in the land will be out of character or stray from the mythology.”

“These new lands at Disneyland and Walt Disney World will transport guests to a whole new Star Wars planet, including an epic Star Wars adventure that puts you in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance.”

While there’s no word on when the parks will be finished, concept sketches of the lands have been revealed. :’)
