Flying To Bali Today? Ash Cloud Says No

If you persist in booking flights to Bali, you may be in for an unfortunate if not entirely unexpected surprise today – flights in and out have been cancelled yet again thanks to Mount Raung.
The volcano, a geographical feature with precisely zero chill, is yet again spewing ash into the atmosphere, with winds blowing in an “unfavourable direction”, ie right into the path of your damn holiday.
Virgin have cancelled six services, with another four under review; Jetstar have cancelled five, and say that they are “reviewing options” to get passengers moving as quickly as possible.
Mount Raung, which has been acting up lately, left tourists stranded at Denpasar Airport for a period of several days last month, and had bored, frustrated Aussies threatening to start shit
Michael Haywood of the Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre has said that the wind is likely to change at some point today, at which point, Mount Raung’s resting bitch face will be set like that forever.
By this afternoon, the ash will hopefully be pushed in a southerly direction, where it will be the Indian Ocean‘s problem, and flights will be able to commence once again.
