Aussie Barista Takes Out The 2015 World Championship In Seattle

Aussies now have another reason to be smug about how our coffee is the best in the world, and how all other nations’ brews are effectively no better than ditch water – our fair land has officially spawned the best barista in the world.
Good Food report that Canberra’s Sasa Sestic took out the grand prize the World Barista Championships in Seattle earlier today, just weeks after winning the title of Australia’s best barista in Melbourne.
Sestic is the founder of ONA Coffee in Fyshwick, and in order to win, had to impress the judges by making four espressos, four cappuccinos and four signature drinks in 15 minutes.
Presumably in deference to Australia’s love affair with getting on the piss, Sestic’s signature coffee contained a splash of shiraz viognier juice from the Clonakilla vineyard in the ACT.
Staff at ONA Coffee celebrated Sestic’s win this morning, saying that he has been training for two years, and that the victory is proof of his dedication to fine caffeinated beverages.
“Sasa is someone who is really one hundred percent passionate about producing something incredible, and he will stop at nothing to produce it,” one staff member said.

Baristas from the US, Canada, Hong Kong, the UK and France filled the remainder of the top six slots.
