Sweet, beautiful Uber, the saviour of our drunken selves and warrior of cheap taxi alternatives are rolling out a new update that will be available to all users by December.
Currently released to about 1% of their global users, the update has some practical new features that will allow us to better function as the borderline alcoholic we all are, but don’t like to admit. How, you ask? Prepare to be both stunned and captivated.
Gone are the days of getting to the pub your lit mate says he’s at, but actually moved on from half an hour earlier. You’ll be able to search his contact details directly and the Uber will take you straight to him. Granted, he’ll need to accept the request, so if he considers himself big in the prank scene, you might still have some issues.
You’ll also be able to sync up other services with your journey. If you can cop UberEATS in your area, you can schedule that shit to arrive at home when you do. This is it. This is the innovation of the century.
Other features include entering your destination up front – this will give you a fair estimate before you book to avoid a nasty scare because you drunkenly accepted 3x surge pricing. Shortcuts will now display on your home screen that learn and predict your routine destinations, letting you book it all in with one tap. Your calendar will also integrate with the Uber app, showing your appointments as part of these shortcuts. Fucken YES m8.
“We designed the new Uber app around you—and our core beliefs that time is a luxury and that the information you need should always be at your fingertips,” said the Uber statement.
