In news that’s sure to brighten your week, it looks like Activision is working on remastered versions of the beloved Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 games, in addition to other fan-faves like Modern Warfare 2.

To quote our lord and saviour Charli XCX, “I just wanna go back, back to 1999” when coronavirus didn’t exist and we could all just play THPS every day. It was a much simpler time, but thanks to the wonderful people at Activision, we could be reliving our childhood sooner than we think.

According to a new leak discovered by Game Rant, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater looks to be among a long list of Activision titles getting remastered soon. Honestly, this is the best news to come out of the gaming industry since Animal Crossing was announced.

Skateboarding games are an elite tier within the gaming industry. I know, Fortnite is cool, Call Of Duty slaps, but nothing hits quite like Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater. But after the huge flop that was THPS 5 back in 2015, it was beginning to look like we’d seen the last of the Tony Hawk games.

It’s all just a bunch of rumours at this stage, but if proven to be true, we could be copping a plethora of quality games to cure our coronavirus-fuelled boredom this year.

Basically, the leak comes from The Gaming Revolution Twitter account and claims the non-comprehensive list of titles includes: Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater Remastered, Call of Duty 2020, MW2 Remastered and a Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex Remastered among other games.

To add fuel to the fire, The Death Set (a band who has previously licensed music to video games) recently took to Facebook to announce that they “just licensed 5 new songs to Tony Hawk 2020 game,” in what is surely in breach of any non-disclosure agreement they may have. The Facebook post was quickly taken down, adds to the speculation that a new THPS is imminent.

It’s important to note that Activision/Blizzard is yet to announce any of the alleged remasters, or comment on the rumours. But 2020 has been a rough year and I think we all deserve a little Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, as a treat.

We’ll be sure to update you if and when Activision make our 90s skate dreams come true.
