THE SELBY AND THE COBRASNAKE

As far as photographers go, two of the greatest beneficiaries of the hyper-connected internet zeitgeist are social photographer Mark “The Cobrasnake” Hunter and creative voyeur Todd Selby.

Both have amassed sizeable and loyal online followings which they have parlayed into exhibitions, commercial jobs, international travel and fervent media attention. Granted there are photographers who have more technical ability or creativity but the true appeal of their websites is the stylistic and thematic niche they have carved for themselves. They do one thing and they do it well. In fact, they do it better than anyone.

Both photographers will be in Sydney in March for a double show at the Monster Children Gallery. The joint shows, titled †Predator’ and †Home Alone’, will open on Friday March 6 at 6pm and close on Saturday March 21 with both photographers attending the opening.

While Down Under Todd Selby will also be shooting Australian creatives in their homes and work spaces so keep an eye out for them on his website. The shortlist of confirmed subjects is as follows…

Natalie Wood ( Fashion Designer)
Steve Pavlovic (Modular Records boss)
Emma Balfour (Model) and Andrew Cowen (Photographer)
Jonathan Zawada and Annie Wright (Designers)
Sally McDonald and Micah Hamdorf (Rittenhouse designers)
Nick Briand and Susien Chong (Lover)
Ozzie Wright (Artist and Surfer)
