Romance Was Born are bringing back the Eighties (yep: again) for their AW 2010 collection entitled Nightmare On Wall Street; And this reinterpretation of 80s style is definitely a whole lot more Oliver Stone than it is John Hughes.
Shoulder pads, crazy ruffles, giant jewel embellishments and gold saucer sized paillettes, Dynasty villain puffed sleeves and gold brocade print, a little bit of Olivia Newton-John’s “Let’s Get Physical”, an inspired rendition of Michael’s “Thriller” jacket, and even an amazing He-Man mens headdress.
Super sexy, very cheeky, and it’s probably the most wearable collection they’ve done to date.
“Nightmare On Wall Street” couldn’t be more apt a title for this collection, because these are the kind of clothes that could get you into a shitload of trouble with your creditors; And the clothes have most definitely triggered the superficial “greed is good” ethos within me – i.e. I WANT that minidress. I NEED that blazer. I HAVE TO HAVE the jewel emblazoned sweat shirt…
