Dion Lee, Whitney Port, Romance Was Born At LMFF

Last night at Melbourne’s Docklands, the very talented Dion Lee scored a $10,000 paycheck and the potential for international exposure by taking out the prestigious LMFF Young Designer Award for his beautifully sleek collection “How To Be Invisible”.

The list of past winners includes Romance Was Born, Yeojin Bae and Ben Pollitt of Friedrich Gray, and the award is considered one of the country’s most highly-regarded prizes for emerging talent. Huge congratulations to the talented 24 year old, whose deconstructed tailoring reminds us a little of the latest collection from another 20-something young man you may have heard of.

MORE OF THE LATEST FROM LMFF:

WHITNEY PORT
Massive celebrities flock to L’oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival in droves, including international superstar Whitney from The Hills / The City. She’s here to promote her label ‘Whitney Eve’ and make important Australian contacts:

However, the real reason why she’s in town is because she’s the guest of honour at the “Target Rocks Red Market” – a free runway show (with clothes by Target – “affordable chic” is probably the event byline) that is happening at Federation Square this Saturday March 20 from 1pm – 4pm.

Suck it up Jay Lyon. You and your overly voluminous hair are making Australian men look bad. Just be polite, hide chip-on-shoulder under a nice jacket and go to the damn party. It was such a relief when she broke up with him and he cried. Ha ha ha ha ha!

THE MYER SHOW
Jennifer Hawkins was the main event, channeling Kylie Minogue something fierce:

ROMANCE WAS BORN
Amazing baby-faced model Samantha Harris opened the Vogue show in Romance Was Born’s incredible embellished red lace mini with a suitcase busting with American greenbacks and an Eighties cell phone – very “Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps” meets Dolly Parton in “9 To 5“.

ANNA PLUNKETT AND LUKE SALES
Anna and Luke from Romance Was Born rolled in to the opening night party looking understated as always in their very distinct mix of street-meets-avant-garde-meets-buckingham-palace:

Thank you to official LMFF photographer Lucas Dawson for all images.
