PANIC: There May Be A Summer Mango Shortage In Certain Parts Of ‘Straya

Look, we’re devo too guys; please don’t hate on the messenger. That precious juicy stone fruit that has become a beachside icon for Aussies may not actually be around come summer time. It sucks. We know.
According to SMH, Western Australia basically got completely shafted received shipments of mangoes already and that’s pretty much it – it wasn’t an early delivery, that WAS mango season.
Local market grocer John Mercer said that while Queensland imports will make their way to WA shores, ya’ll better get prepared to pay big $$$ for the juicy sods so you may have the privilege of Instagramming shit like this:

Something a lil brighter and colourful for my feed ???????? MANGOOOOS will be forever my favourite fruit ??

Mercer says that it’s a bit of a ‘meterological mystery’: for some bizarre reason, crops just came early this year. Absolutely no idea why. Good thing we live in a country run by people willing to put decent amounts of money towards research into global warming, right?!
He said mango trees in Darwin, Katherine and Kununurra had started flowering a month earlier than they usually would – and the fruit that followed was a bit crap.
“Some growers won’t even pick their second crop because it won’t be good enough quality,” Mr Mercer said.
“Those without any fruit will be in trouble. Those with it will be laughing all the way to the bank.”

“In Darwin there are many growers already finished too but the rest will mainly send their fruit to the east coast – the market is stronger, and fruit follows money.”

So, like… the mangoes might be next to nonexistent if you live on the West side of the country, and potentially subpar yet super expenno if you live on the East. PLUS, IT’S NOT EVEN SUMMER YET
We’re so sorry, everyone. This is not okay.
