Maybelline Follows In Fenty’s Footsteps, Debuts More Diverse Shades

2017 was a boonta year for beauty.

Tom Ford‘s hotly anticipated ‘Fucking Fabulous‘ fragrance came into existence, Shu Uemura dropped a Super Mario-themed holiday collection and Rihanna‘s Fenty range debuted a freaking killer foundation.

It’s a hard act to follow, but 2018 is looking gewd: we’re just four days in and Maybelline New York has come up guns ablazing.

Any beauty buff familiar with the nuggets of goodness between Priceline‘s aisles will be familiar with their cult product Instant Age Rewind Concealer; it boasts a four star rating on Beauty Haven for hiding dark circles and blurring fine lines, which ain’t too bad considering it’s under $10.

And now, the pharmacy-based brand has announced they’re extending the shade range to include six new, darker colours. They teased the expansion on Twitter yesterday:

Today, their US website boasts a total of 12 hues. The new shades include Ivory, Sand, Golden, Caramel, Tan, and Hazelnut.

For years, people have decried make up brands for failing to cater to a diverse range of skin tones, so Maybelline taking this step towards becoming a more inclusive beauty brand range cops a big thumbs up from us. Folks on Twitter have praised the announcement:

We reached out to Maybelline this morning and asked about a launch date Down Under, but apparently they’re all still on holidays (I’m crying, I’m jealous). We’ll update you once we know if / when you can get your make up-smeared mittens on this cult product.
