H&M’s Chic As Sin Sister Label COS Finds Retail Space In Sydney

Chic and simple scandi basics from cult label COS—that render its sister label H&M truly basic in comparison—are in your near future, Sydney, as Collection Of Style has found its forever home at a Martin Place-based retail space.

The dawning of COS in Australia has been on the cards for over a year now—its arrival was announced last February, with its first offering landing in Melbourne’s The Strand on Elizabeth Street the following November—but like H&M‘s feted arrival in Australia, Sydney will receive its COS much later than the debut launch.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports that COS has been the first to sign a lease at 5 Martin Place (next to the former Commonwealth Bank chamber) taking on a relatively modest 1200 metre squared space to house its iconically minimalist, structured and monochromatic silhouettes. The opening date for COS’ first Sydney offshoot is yet to be announced.
COS’ landing follows an influx of international shopping haunts arrival in Sydney: it’s a dark thought indeed that just 4 years ago, we were bereft of Zara, Muji, Topshop, Sephora, Uniqlo, H&M and Forever 21.
The news has been further sweetened by food outlets that may join COS at 5 Martin Place: Italian marketplace EATALY, and upmarket grocery stores Dean & Deluca and Marks & Spencer – all which are reportedly in Sydney’s future.
Throw in H&M’s arguably more attractive sibling label & Other Stories, and a cult supermarket Wholefoods? Sydney will be C O M P L E T E.
