Doctor Who To Premiere 50th Anniversary Special Via Global Simulcast

The penultimate reign of Matt Smith and his penchant for fezzes as The Doctor has been officially announced, with the first of Doctor Who’s 2013 specials, The 50th Anniversary “Day Of The Doctor” special no less, today receiving a date and time for its worldwide release.

Because Doctor Who fans are abundant and widespread, and a worldwide simulcast is the closest thing us mere mortals have to traveling in time, the 50th Anniversary special will be broadcast en masse on this humble tardis-less planet we call home at 7:50 pm in the UK – or, 6:50 am for early rising Whovians down under on November 24 via ABC 1.

The anniversary special is being released exactly fifty years after its debut on November 23, 1963, marking half a century of sci fi-loving generations frothing at the mouth, criticising choices of Doctors and perpetually witnessing their favoured protagonist dressed in varying degrees of utter flamboyance. The special will feature revered Doctor Who alumnus David Tenant alongside Matt Smith and Billie Piper.

To coincide with the titillating announcement of Doctor Who before breakfast on a random Sunday in November, a precious 14 second teaser has also been released that reveals approximately zero things about the anniversary special except that a stray extra in the background is wearing an impossibly fabulous scarf. Go nuts!
