Did Alexander Wang Borrow Dion Lee’s Steez?

Alexander Wang’s Spring 12/13 collection has garnered an array of positive/negative reactions since its unveiling over the weekend at New York Fashion Week. Along with praise for Wang’s use of sleek cut-outs matched over geometric symmetry, the designer has been called out for ripping off our very own Dion Lee’s Fall 2012 collection.

Specifically, the use of ‘suspended’ tailoring in the creation of Wang’s LBD (as seen on Erin Wasson) is strikingly similar to the floating cloth construction of Dion’s previous designs. Case in point:

What do you think? Would you call this a case of inspiration or coincidence? Dion Lee was unavailable for comment, he is currently en route to London for his debut runway show at London Fashion Week.
