Earlier this week, Pedestrian caught up with ASOS womenswear fashion director Caren Downie and her menswear counterpart John Mooney. The duo were in the country to promote Australia’s first dedicated ASOS website, which, coupled with an Australian distribution centre and some region specific code tweaking, means free shipping around the country, listings in Australian dollars and a quicker turnaround for returns and purchases. An efficient way to shop just became quicker, cheaper and more reliable. But you don’t have to tell Australians that. We’re the e-tailer’s second biggest market, their biggest outside of the UK, thanks to a purchase volume which could fill two jumbo jets every week. That’s a lot of chambray.
