An ‘African Themed’ Show At Paris Fashion Week Only Had White Models In It

Japanese designer Junya Watanabe isn’t winning many fans at the moment.

He held his SS16 Menswear show in Paris earlier this week, and while Watanabe is regarded as part of the progressive fashion elite, this collection has not received much acclaim from critics, or the public. This is because his show heavily featured African style and cultural dress, but failed to feature any models of African descent. Just Caucasian people. Very, very pale white people.
Twitter has been chatting shit all day (as Twitter tends to do), and the outrage has now reached the stage where Watanabe’s collection is being referred to as ‘The Rachel Dolezal collection’. Yeeeesh… that’s gotta hurt.
