The Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2011 show kicks off at 10am EST for New York Fashion Week. Jacobs’ shows are traditionally attended by heaps of celebs frothing over it all: Sofia Coppola, Anna Wintour, Joe Zee, Jessica Stam, Alice Burdeu and Elijah Wood sat in the front this time last year. His 2010 collection went for a very severe, stylised look: the models all wore their hair in topknots, and faces were painted chalk-white with eyes heavily lined like geishas-gone-wrong, so naturally with the change o’ the times the iconoclastic designer will shift the direction big time.
The show will screen live from New York here: live.marcjacobs.com
If you don’t care for Marc Jacobs or clothes, there’s always models falling over to hit the spot.
UPDATE The show just wrapped. Seventies-inspired looks: shining satin flared trousers. Berry coloured leather and taffeta flowers at the waist and neck. Art deco prints. Flowing dresses and pantsuits. Metallic details. Strapless column dress as the final look on Freja. Music of choice: ‘Spring’ from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons.
