The mascots for the 2012 London Olympic Games have been revealed and they look amazingly like Al Capp’s little white whiskered guy The Shmoo.

Olympic mascot Wenlock and his Paralympic mascot friend Mandeville also look kind of like a Logie statuette.
It’s a relief that the design team in charge didn’t take the easy road and choose a lion and unicorn or a bulldog kitted out in Buckingham Palace guard outfit, but the cycloptic monsters above are pretty ug and meaningless. Design fail?
