Gird Your Jockstraps: Tix To Sydney’s College Football Game Are On Sale

HEADS UP, Y’ALL.

If you were even thinking about maybe hitting up Sydney next August to take in the historic US College Football clash between the University of California Golden Bears and the University of Hawaii Rainbow Warriors, you’d be well-served to get your shit together quick sticks.
Tickets for the huge clash at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium went on sale today, and are already being picked up at a rate of absolute knots.
The game – being promoted as the Sydney College Cup – is part of the opening round of matches in the 2016 NCAA Division One Men’s College Football Championships, and is the first time a college football game has taken place on Australian soil in decades.
Along with being broadcast back to the voracious college football supporting base in the US, the game will feature all the pomp, fanfare, and tradition of a regular college football game – including marching bands providing the stadium music, school cheerleaders, and mascots.
Stuart Ayers, NSW’s state minister for Major Events and Sport, reiterated the need for fans to get cracking on the ticket buying.

“This is a must-see event for all sports fans, and I encourage everyone to book their tickets quickly. The game will feature all the colour and excitement of College Football, as well as a competitive match between two top sides. It promises to provide a massive boost to the local visitor economy.”

The Golden Bears, under new-ish coach Sonny Dykes, are in the middle of a resurgence, following a bleak period in program history. In the currently on-going 2015 season, they sit 4th in the Pac-12‘s North Division with a season record of 7-5.
Meanwhile the Rainbow Warriors currently lag in last place of the Mountain West Conference‘s West Division, with an overall season record of 3-10.
The clash between Cal and Hawaii goes down on Saturday, August 27th 2016 at 2pm, from ANZ Stadium in Sydney.
