As we previously reported : “One person he [Kyrgios] will not be thanking is Drake, a sad Canadian troubadour to whom he has inadvertently attributed a brief period of lacklustre performance at the outset of his four set match against Czechoslovakia’s Jirí Veselý on the weekend past, the first set of which he lost on account of the music he listened to before stepping out onto the court. Speaking after the fact, Kyrgios noted that he “came out really flat” because of what he was listening to, “so hopefully I won’t listen to that again! It was actually Drake. [Drake] didn’t do the job for me.”
Drake last week returned the softest lob in the game with a shot that barely cleared the net during an interview discussing his role as the host of ESPN’s annual sporting awards the ESPYs this week, singling out the Canberra native when asked about which international sporting figure he would like to meet in person.
“I also want to meet this guy that says that he lost because he listened to my music,” Drake said. “I also want to meet that guy and look him in the eye and see exactly who he is as a man and size him up and then chop him right down. Nick whatever-his-name-is – ’cause he didn’t win, so that’s how he’s going to be remembered: “Nick whatever-his-name-is.”
