49ers Coach Drops Strongest Hint Yet Jarryd Hayne Will Make The Roster

Though he didn’t make it onto the field until the third quarter of yesterday’s game against the Denver Broncos, Jarryd Hayne made the most of his limited game time, and made the first completed reception of his burgeoning NFL career.
A video, shot during the second of the San Francisco 49ers four pre-season games last weekend, shows Hayne’s teammates going apeshit for his performance on the field
Following yesterday’s game, we have the best indication yet that Hayne will make the 49ers squad come the start of the season, via coach Jim Tomsula, who praised the Aussie’s abilities
Tomsula said said:
“I feel very good about his ability to field. I feel good about his ability to perform with ball in his hands on special teams. The tackling, coverage part, I’ve seen lot of improvement. I’ve seen what I need to see. There’s been a great evaluation on him.”
While the coach insisted that the decision is still very much up in the air, he added that the former Parramatta star “has definitely got himself into the conversation” regarding the final cut.
The 49ers squad will be cut from 90 to 75 this week, with the final, 53-player roster set to be announced this weekend, following one final pre-season game against San Diego.
Hayne doesn’t want to jump the gun on his chances either, telling media:
“I don’t control the future so I’m not worrying about something I don’t control. I’m happy coming over here and doing what I’ve been able to do the last couple of games. I put my best foot forward, I’ve felt, and if the coaches like it, they like it.”
