It was only a matter of time before the one and only Shannon Purser scored a lead in a Netflix Original flick. If that name doesn’t exactly ring a bell then just think of Barb from Stranger Things and the ball will drop.

In very good news the streaming giant has unleashed yet another trailer for a young adult romcom by the name of Sierra Burgess Is A Loser and it’s got “feel-good” written all over it… and catfishing, extreme catfishing.

So, here we go:

SBIAL is a very modern day retelling of the 1897 play Cyrano de Bergerac by Edmond Rostand.

In as little words as possible because the trailer’s an absolute hoot – Sierra Burgess is smart, funny, nice, and just doing her own thing. But she knows she’s nothing like resident Hot Girl Veronica, who usually treats her like shit ‘cos high-school’s fun. So when Sierra receives a text message meant for Veronica from a cutie pie boy, she plays along not thinking it’ll lead to anything.

Of course… it does… it really does.

What’s the most logical thing to do, now? Tell Veronica you’ll tutor her and in return, she’ll join in on the catfishing.

Completely logical.

Suss the trailer, below:

Issa Friday night flick!

Kristine Froseth stars as Veronica, RJ Cyler as best mate Dan, and Noah Centineo as cute boy Jamey.

In conclusion:

  • Shannon “Barb” Purser.
  • Bit of a cheeky romcom.
  • The ol’ “finding yourself” chestnut.
  • Catfishing but with feels.

September 7, folks.

In the mean time, a dreamy young adult romcom is launching tomorrow and it’s called To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before.

This baby’s based on the young adult novel by Jenny Han and tells the story of Lara Jean Song Covey (Lana Condor). Lara Jean has five love letters written to the five boys she’s loved throughout her life. Of course, they mysteriously get sent to the five boys so oh look, shit has hit the fan.

The novel spent a casual 40 weeks on the New York Times Best Seller List so grab the wine and cheese.

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before comes out August.
